Is The Honeymoon Over?
The verse in Revelation 2:4 …”you have left your first love”, is an issue Jesus is addressing at the church at Ephesus.
This early church at Ephesus has become mechanical, getting caught up in doing the works of a Christian church. The church was busy doing church activities. Getting careless on focusing on works based religion, while grace and mercy begins to lack, it is dangerous in the kingdom of heaven to forget that. They must repent, they must be grieved and ashamed for their sinful decline, they must confess it in the sight of God.
Work for God must be motivated by the love for God, or it will not last, like being happy (temporary) or having joy (eternal).
“I’m happy giving a homeless person money, but I have joy knowing it was for God that I did it.”
Paul in his epistle to the church at Ephesus, he describes the Christian’s Heavenly Bank Account: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works… that we should walk in them.
Walk in Love- “as Christ also loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling aroma.”
Walk in Light- “for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth,”
Walk in Wisdom- “submitting to one another in the fear of God”.
Paul teaches the church to walk a spiritual walk, for good works, building upon their spiritual wealth. The early church at Ephesus did just that. They built their church upon the “Love of Christ Jesus”.

Passion for Christ Jesus
Lesson One - Love of Christ Jesus
“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me”. John 14:21
“This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you”. John 15:12
Lesson Two - Abide in Me
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me”. John 15:4
Lesson Three - Fellowship
“Therefore if you have any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being united in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
